The Groix Island can only be reached by ferry, from Lorient. To get to Lorient, a number of alternatives exist:
By car :
On the national road linking Nantes to Brest (N165/E60), take the «
Lorient » exit, and then the N465 road, which crosses the city. Follow
the signs to the harbour station to Groix (« Groix, Embarcadère » or
«Gare Maritime») that you will find on your arrival in Lorient.
By train:
The Lorient train station is a 30 minute walk from the harbour station.
Approximately 20 fast trains connect Paris to Lorient every day.

By plane :
The Lorient and Nantes airport are the closest to the harbour station;
Only a 30 minute cab ride away, the Lorient airport provides several
daily return flights to and from Paris and Lyon. Direct connections
also exist with some airports in Ireland, specifically Cork, Galway and
Kerry. Numerous other indirect flights are also available from other
French and European cities. Website: www.lorient.aeroport.fr, telephone: 00 33 2 97 87 21 50.
The Nantes airport, less than two hours from Lorient by car, serves most large European cities. Website: www.nantes.aeroport.fr, telephone: 00 33 2 40 84 80 80.
....ONCE AT THE HARBOUR STATION.....
By ferry boat only :
From Lorient, “Compagnie Océane” provides, during
the high season, 10 daily rides to Groix. The pleasant journey only
takes 40 minutes. Website: www.compagnie-oceane.fr, telephone: 00 33 820 056 000.
A taxi boat also provides, during the high season, 6 return trips to the island.

....AND ONCE ON GROIX.....
By cab :
Numerous collective cabs will be available upon your arrival.
By bike:
You will easily find rental companies all located around the harbour.
This is probably the most pleasant way to discover the Island!
- Or...
For the lazy ones, motorbikes or cars can also be rented at some of the
above rental companies. Do not hesitate to print the above map: the
Sémaphore can easily be recognised thanks to its red tile roof, which
is quite uncommon on the island. Allow 5 minutes by car, 15 minutes by
bike, and 45 minutes on foot!
